And I think it is a mightily positive step forwards. When Parliament becomes but a rump in the political process, when the political process is lived and breathed by a wider population, when we all are paid in some way or another to participate in politics (even if this simply means that of the seven or eight working hours day, one or two shall be of a political bent) ... then we will have our revolution.

There is an "I want to say it first" approach with...

There is an "I want to say it first" approach with lots of blog sites, particularly Twitter - many users simply post up headlines with little background info. But this will change over time I feel.

We are all now becoming media journalists in some form, battling to be the first to report a big story. I still find you need to dig around a bit more to find quality material online that has well constructed opinions or thoughts.

In the old days we left it to the big news channels, newspapers to fight over stories, the traditional battle for headlines. At the time of the Lennon and Elvis deaths, we never much cared about wanting to announce it to each other, rather just be totally shocked and thinking about the legacy. Now everyone is a 'reporter' - with digital cameras, phones etc.

But I do think our new found ways to communicate will also develop and improve as fast the technology that delivers it, and probably at the expense of traditional media.

What's great is there is a whole new generation of media talent out there who now have a platform and may not have considered this a career 10-15 years ago. Deprofessionalisation is already happening, certainly online.
